Drug Research Center ( DRC ) Ltd was founded in
1997 as a privately owned Hungarian Clinical Research
Company in Central and Eastern Europe for providing
services to the healthcare and allied pharmaceutical,
biotechnological industries. These services include
complete Phase I-IV Clinical Trials and their managements
according to the ICH Tripartite Guideline on GCP.
The
office is located in Balatonfüred, Hungary
at one of the most beautiful recreational area in
Central Europe.
The
DRC organization is complete with a Phase I unit,
Biochemical-, Bioanalytical and Pharmacogenomics
Laboratories, Out- Patient Clinics at the field
of cardiology, diabetes and osteoporosis and a SMO
(Site Management Organization) with a large network
of GPs.
Phase I unit:
The
Phase I unit has 16 beds with all the requirements
to conduct EU or FDA conform Phase I studies. The
attached reference list proves the international
acceptance of DRC Phase I-II activity. A large database
with the data of healthy volunteers makes our recruitment
easy. The capacity of the unit could be increased
by 20 more beds of the neighboring cardiovascular
department.
Laboratory:
The
well equipped laboratory is ready to perform clinical
biochemistry-, gene technology and analytic works.
It provides all kinds of bone metabolic and resorption
marker determinations, allergy testing, drug metabolite
analysis and genotyping. The laboratory has huge
storing capacity either on +4 Co, -20 Co,-80 Co
or in liquid nitrogen.
Outpatient Clinics snd Research Laboratories:
The
Cardiovascular Research Laboratory and Clinic equipped
with exercise testing facility, ECG Holter monitoring,
ABPM, Nuclear Medicine Facilities, cardiac ECHO,
The Diabetes Laboratory and Clinic has Metabolic
Unit for clamp studies and the Osteoporosis Research
and Clinic equipped with Ultrasound Bone densitometer
and DEXA. The outpatient clinics serve diabetic
patients and osteoporotic patients from our two
counties region which means having access to several
hundreds of diabetics and several thousand of patients
with ostepenia and osteoporosis. The close cooperation
with the Heart Hospital Balatonfüred, what
is the largest cardiac rehabilitation centre in
the EU makes an extra access not only to chronic
ischemic cardiovascular patients and patients with
cardiac failure but also to acute cardiac patients
before and after coronary catheterization and vascular
intervention. The cooperative work also with dialysis
centers makes the collection of patients with renal
impairments smooth.
Site
Management Organization (SMO):
The
established SMO system means a continuous connection
with the contracted General Practitioners in our
region. They have been participating in GCP training
and they not only refer all
types
of patients to DRC but also -if the sponsors agrees-
they participate in the phase III-IV studies. In
this case the DRC support them by quality control,
laboratory sample collection and handling, drug
supply, CRF filling, etc. This collaboration helps
us to collect patients for studies where either
large sample size or special patient population
is required.
Staff:
The
dedicated team of DRC comprises a group of highly
skilled individuals with an understanding of customer
needs and all specific expertise in a project demands.
DRC has 23 employers, five of them are MDs with
at least two specializations in the medical fields
and their work is strongly supported by study nurses
and administrative help. The lab is run by chemical
engineers and skilled technicians.
