BioTalentum Ltd.

BioTalentum Ltd. is a research start-up company established in 2005. The companies main object is the medical biotechnical and biotechnological research and development which could result in new products to the market. Focus areas of the activities are animal bio-techniques and bio-technologies, including assisted reproductive technologies (ART), other in vitro embryo technologies, micromanipulation and cryobiology.
Furthermore the company is working as a consultant in preparing, submiting and managing of EC and other international biotechnological projects.

BioTalent Ltd. is currently consortium parner in two EU FP6 projects:

The project MEDRAT titled " New Tools to Generate Transgenic and Knock-out Mouse and Rat Models" is a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) in the Sixth Framework Programme of the EU. The project started on the 1st March 2006 for a 3 years period.
Role in the project: It is important to generate a well-standardised technological platform from the new technology, including optimising the banking and international distribution of the new model animals. Cryopreservation of gametes and embryos from the transgenic animals will be developed as a supporting technology in mouse and rat.

The other EU FP6 project is strongly connected to project MEDRAT. The "Training Network On Novel Animal Models For Medical Purposes" (short name: CLONET) is a EU FP6 Marie Curie Research Training Network (RTN) project, which started on the 1st November 2006 for 4 years.
Role in the project: The company will be the leader of the cryobiological working group, where it is aimed to develop further the SSV technology and apply the licensed method for new species and embryonic stages both in research and commercial settings. And BioTalentum will participate also in the PhD and post-doc trainings.
