HYD Ltd. for Research and Development
HYD Ltd. for Research and Development, a technology based pharmaceutical
company was established in 1992 to develop pharmaceutical and consumer
products that utilize a novel proprietary procedure, Deuterium Depletion
for the treatment and prophylaxis of various types of cancer and other
proliferative/neoplastic diseases. The procedure is protected by
international patents. In Hungary all research and development, based on
the Deuterium Depletion technology is exclusively managed and organized by
HYD Ltd. for Research and Development.
The deuterium/hydrogen (D/H) mass ratio is the largest among stable
isotopes of the same element, causing differences in the physical and
chemical behaviour between the two hydrogen isotopes. It has been
discovered that decreasing the concentration of deuterium below normal
levels in the body, it delays the growth of cancer and prolongs survival.
Investigating the effect of Deuterium Depletion on the expression of genes
having key role in signal transduction, it was found that the shortage of
Deuterium exerts a strong influence on c-myc, Ha-ras, p53 and COX-2 genes.
These findings confirm, that D-concentration can intervene in the signal
transduction pathways and induce apoptosis.
HYD Ltd., using all the preliminary results, which include in vivo studies,
efficacy tests and non-clinical toxicology, started a drug registration
process in Hungary. Phase 2 clinical trial was carried out in a multicenter
double blind setting. The evaluation of the effectiveness of Deuterium
Depletion on advanced prostate tumors was filed at the Hungarian Institute
of Pharmacy.
In 1999, HYD completed the development and registration of a new deuterium
depleted veterinary drug in Hungary, Vetera-DDW-25 A.U.V., for the
treatment of households pets with tumors. Its main indication is pre- and
post treatment of surgical interventions or single treatment in case of non-
operable tumors. Clinical trial of Vetera-DDW-25 A.U.V. injection was
completed in 2003 and the registration process has been started.
HYD is the current owner of the patent "Pharmaceutical products for curing
tumorous diseases and process for preparing same", has been filed in 21
countries and granted in 20 of them. HYD Ltd. has the exclusive rights for
the production and distribution of drugs and consumer products developed by
using DDW technology and the related inventions.
